A big thank you to Augustine Kwanashie for talking at our July Connected Data meetup on his experiences of working on the BBC’s Linked Data Platform. Valtech kindly agreed to host the event at their London offices and we had a range of attendees from newbies to expert linked data, semantic & graph practitioners.
Augustine gave a comprehensive overview of the architectural, engineering and practical considerations of keeping a large scale Linked Data Platform up and running whilst delivering enhancements for a variety of customers. It was particularly interesting to hear his views on blending modern cloud based AWS components and practices with common Linked Data architecture patterns, managing breaking changes and dealing with data quality issues.
Augustine also introduced a new BBC Linked Open Data service called BBC things which is currently in beta and looks really interesting.
